On December 8th, all the 8th graders will be going to Knott’s Berry Farm Amusement park to learn about physical science. Science is located all over Knotts through motion, forces, energy, machines, gravity, and friction. During the trip they will be required to find the rides’ timing, measure acceleration, and review the drop times. The science behind these rollercoasters is very interesting. As the roller coaster travels up the towering track, it builds up potential energy. Being pulled to the top, kinetic energy is released and the cart will go soaring down the hill. Building energy, the roller coaster is pulled rapidly towards the ground with gravity. If you are going on the trip, you were required to turn in a permission slip, a donation of $37.00, and a personal behavior contract by December 6th. On the behavior contract, you agreed to be respectful and responsible on the bus and at Knotts. The trip is scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on December 8th. The 8th graders will go to there first period class as normal, and will line up will line up with your assigned group on the blacktop at 8:30 am after you hear the announcement. We hope to see all 8th graders there!
